Five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the province over the weekend, with four of them linked to travel.
One of them, a man in his 50s in the Central Health region, triggered an advisory involving Marine Atlantic’s Blue Puttees. Anyone who made the crossing last Wednesday night, arriving in Port aux Basques Thursday morning, is urged to get tested.
The other four cases, all in the Eastern region, include a young man under 20 who’s a close contact of a previous case.
The other three—a man between 20 and 39 years old, another in his 50s, and a woman in her 60s—came with travel advisories for:
- Air Canada Flight 8016 from Montreal to St. John’s last Monday, April 19;
- Air Canada Flight 8016 from Montreal to St. John’s last Tuesday, April 20 and;
- Air Canada Flight 8996 from Halifax to St. John’s last Thursday, April 22.
One person remains in hospital due to COVID-19, and there are 25 active cases in the province.
Meanwhile, the case reported on Friday in the Western Health region remains under investigation.
