Those in the sporting fraternity are excited about the possibilities in terms of facilities for the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s.
The metro region already has most of the facilities required for summer sports such as baseball and soccer, so it’s generally felt that most of the capital expenditures will be for upgrades to existing facilities.
Troy Croft, the executive director of Sport NL, expects to see a separate committee do a facility assessment over the next while.
Croft is uncertain as to whether the Pearlgate Track and Field Complex will be suitable as the lone facility for athletics.
