It’s the soggiest April 27 in 150 years as the metro region has broken an all-time daily rainfall record: 50 mm. That has resulted in flooding of streets, rivers, and parks and manhole covers gushing streams of water upward.
There is flooding on Powers Road in the Goulds, the Southside Road from Blackhead Road to Fort Amherst Road, and the pooling of water at the foot of some ramps.
The rain has tapered off since early this morning and winds are easing.
Jill Maepea, a meteorologist from Environment Canada, says total rainfall so far this month is 280 mm making this the rainiest April on record, breaking the old mark of 260.2 set back in 1951.
