A portion of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital was evacuated this morning after burnt toast triggered a fire alarm.

Eastern Health says the fire alarm was activated due to smoke caused by burning toast in the South Morrisey Wing of the building.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department gave the all-clear a short time later.
