The mayor of Terra Nova says senior citizens who travel from their community to hospital are more unnerved by the actual trip over Atlantic Canada’s worst road than about where they’re going.
The road from the TCH in Terra Nova Park to its namesake town is a blend of old chip seal and gravel with sections missing, leaving drivers wondering who is going to move first in an unintended game of chicken.
Mayor Mike Power says it has nothing to do with the Transportation and Infrastructure depot in Eastport as they can only work with the resources they have, but patching it every few weeks just doesn’t cut it.
Power says they have been trying to get the attention of government for years. He says they have sent petition after petition and they have been in numerous discussions with MHA Lloyd Parrott.
They’ve now found out that government is only recommending putting some crushed stone down.
