A new St. John’s business is offering up a grocery delivery service for people nervous about in-person shopping during the pandemic.
The Big Feed Club Grocery Delivery co-founder Bradley Russell and business partner Jamie Heath had been kicking the idea around for a while and say it’s proven to be a successful venture.
Heath, who is originally from Long Island, Green Bay grew up with limited access to fresh groceries. Russell is from the Stephenville-Port au Port area where his grandparents operated a small convenience store and he recalls asking them about the lack of fresh foods available.
Customers on the northeast Avalon can purchase items through their Big Feed Club website. While most orders are coming from Costco, Russell says they hope to expand service to the entire province and build on the local operators who are currently signed on.
Russell says, right now, The Big Feed Club delivers items from The Oat Company and The Jam Lady of St John’s Farmers’ Market fame.
The company is committed to paying employees a living wage, according to Russell and is actively offsetting one hundred percent of their carbon emissions through the purchase of gold standard carbon offsets.
