The Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Industry Association says it is “deeply concerned” for the future of the Terra Nova Project.
Noia was responding to expressions of interest related to the Terra Nova FPSO issued by Suncor Energy last Friday.
Two of the EOIs prepare for decommissioning of the FPSO and the field, and the other provides an update on a previous EOI preparing for remediation of the FPSO to support the asset life extension project.
Noia CEO Charlene Johnson says the potential decommissioning and abandonment of the vessel would have far-reaching impacts on the oil and gas industry and the province, as well as the many who work directly and indirectly with the project.
In January the provincial government put forward an offer of $175-million to resume production in the offshore. Johnson says that commitment was based on an agreement for long-term production with the Terra Nova Project.
Noia is now requesting that all parties involved find a positive resolution as soon as possible.
Johnson says she wants to see Noia members issuing EOIs related to the asset life extension project of the Terra Nova FPSO and other spinoff opportunities for years to come.
