The Chief of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is retiring after about 38 years of service.
A spokesperson for the RNC confirmed for VOCM News that Chief Joe Boland will be leaving his post at the end of July.
Boland joined the RNC’s ranks in 1983 following his graduation from the Atlantic Police Academy. He rose to the ranks of superintendent in 2014 before ultimately succeeding former RNC Chief Bill Janes in 2017.
Few details are presently known about Boland’s decision to retire. As of Monday evening, the RNC declined to comment on the matter.
