Police on the west coast set up a checkpoint late last week to seek out illegal drivers.
RCMP Traffic Services West issued multiple tickets and seized vehicles as part of traffic enforcement in the Stephenville area.
A 38-year-old Stephenville man was stopped for operating an ATV on a roadway. He had no insurance, license plate, or helmet, and had $7,500 in fines.
Later, an uninsured older-model SUV was stopped. Police ticketed the 42-year-old Port au Port man driving, and seized the vehicle.
Six drivers were charged for speeding, one driver for not wearing a seatbelt, and seven drivers were issued notices for vehicle inspections following suspicions of modifications that were not within the provincial standards.
