Alex Newhook of St. John’s has gone from NCAA to the big show all in the same year, making his NHL debut last night with the Colorado Avalanche.

He had a shot on goal, was +1, and logged about 13 minutes of ice time.
His team had a 2-0 lead on San Jose but the Sharks roared back with three unanswered goals to win.
The Avalanche are now four points behind Vegas in the race for first in the west as the Golden Knights beat Minnesota.
