The plans for the future of the Railway Coastal Museum have been revealed.
The name of the building itself has been changed to the Johnson Innovation Station as a big shift is made to how the facility operates.
The building will now be jointly occupied by the Railway Coastal Museum on the bottom floor and Genesis Coworking on the top two floors.
The museum will remain operational, but board chair Ron Penney explains that it will be on a seasonal basis. The museum will open on June 26 of this year and will operate until after Labour Day. He also suggests opening to the public over Christmas and some weekends.
St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen, who is thrilled with what he is calling a “unique partnership,” believes the change will satisfy the concerns raised when the changes were first announced.
