By now many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have received their census packages in the mail. The province is encouraging residents to complete their 2021 Census forms. The census helps to paint a picture of the country’s population and communities.

Funding formulas for major federal transfer payments, like health and social transfers, are based in part on population counts which makes filling out census information important for governments.

It’s also used when it comes to planning for roads, public transit, police and fire services as well as health care, education and social programs. This year, people can fill out their census information online.
