The Rooms is receiving over $750,000 in funding from the federal government.

MP Seamus O’Regan announced $758,170 to the Rooms through the Canada Cultural spaces fund.

The announcement follows the recommendation in the PERT Report that the provincial government invests in cultural institutions as a means of recovery.

Provincial Tourism Minister Steve Crocker says a donation like this eases the economical strain on the province.

The funding will help replace specialized equipment used to maintain the artifacts kept at the museum, as well as upkeep security, environmental, and safety systems.

CEO at the Rooms, Anne Chafe says the funding will assist 18 different projects to keep the infrastructure and artifacts functional and accessible.
