An 18-year-old White Bay man was caught driving at 70 km/h over the speed limit on the Trans-Canada Highway.

On Tuesday an RCMP officer was patrolling west of Baie Verte Junction when a car came up behind him traveling at a high rate of speed. The car was clocked as high as 169 km/h.

The driver was ticketed for excessive speed, his driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old driver was clocked driving 166 km/h on the Trans Canada Highway yesterday. Glovertown RCMP stopped the girl near Gambo.

She was ticketed for the speed, her licence was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
