The jury in the sexual assault trial of RNC constable Douglas Snelgrove will resume deliberations at 9:00 this morning.
Yesterday the seven men and five women spent five hours considering the evidence before being sequestered at a hotel for the night.
This is the third time in four years a jury has been tasked with deciding the fate of Snelgrove.
He’s accused of sexually assaulting a young woman after giving her a ride home from downtown while he was on duty in December 2014.
The first verdict of not guilty in 2017 was overturned on appeal due to a judge’s error while instructing the jury.
The second attempt ended in a mistrial last fall when another judge wrongly dismissed the two spare jurors.
The trial is taking place at the former school for the deaf across from the Village Mall on Topsail Road.
VOCM News will have the verdict as soon as it is announced.
