There’s a new pilot project underway to bring services directly to vulnerable people in the metro region.
The Harm Reduction Program is set up to meet people where they are and offer services to meet their immediate needs.
The pilot is a joint approach by Eastern Health and End Homelessness St. John’s.
Melissa Coish, regional director of Eastern Health’s Primary Health Care and Prevention Program, says they’re targeting those who are homeless or precariously housed. The program is trans inclusive and sex worker-friendly.
For example, they may find someone who hasn’t had a blood check in five years or someone who just needs a glass of juice, which they will provide.
