The Premier’s Economic Recovery Team’s report has suggested that Nalcor be completely abolished, and while the Premier hasn’t made any sort of commitment to that specifically, he does say the future of the Crown corporation is being considered.
Spending at Nalcor has been the subject of much public scrutiny over the years, particularly in reference to Muskrat Falls and lavish bonuses paid out regardless of performance.
The province recently introduced amendments to legislation that would put an end to bonuses being paid out at Nalcor.
Now with recommendations to eliminate Nalcor, Premier Andrew Furey is looking at what the future holds.
Furey questions what Nalcor could look like after Muskrat Falls is fully commissioned, and says the organization is under a “full evaluation.”
