The town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is mourning the loss of a beloved citizen.
Town councillor Joe Tremblett passed away on the weekend following a battle with cancer.
Mayor Wally Andersen calls Tremblett, who was elected in a byelection in 2018, a “pillar of strength” in the community.
He says Tremblett, along with the group known as Helping Hands, was instrumental in allowing residents of the local long-term care facility to get access to the nearby Kinsmen Park.
A road was created linking the facility with the park, allowing families to take their loved ones out to the park. Andersen says two months ago they officially dedicated the road naming it “Joe’s Highway” and Tremblett was in attendance.
The funeral for the late Joseph John Tremblett takes place this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. local time from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
