Two men were arrested by RCMP on the weekend after testing positive for active THC on new roadside drug screening equipment.
RCMP identified a 20-year-old CBS man during a checkpoint in Avondale on Saturday evening who showed signs of impairment consistent with cannabis use.
Police arrested him for impaired driving after he tested positive for cannabis on drug screening equipment.
Later that night, police noticed a vehicle turning around to avoid a checkpoint on Route 60 in Holyrood. They pulled the vehicle over and say the 25-year-old driver showed signs of impairment consistent with cannabis use.
He tested positive on the roadside drug screening equipment and was taken to the detachment for a drug influence evaluation, the results of which are not yet completed.
In both cases, the men’s driver’s licences were suspended while their vehicles were seized and impounded.
