The case of a St. John’s man accused of mail theft continues to wind its way through the courts.
28-year-old Chad Clarke was arrested in late February around the same time that deadlines for mail-in ballots in the provincial election were being extended.
At the time, police were investigating several incidents of vandalism and theft from community mailboxes in the metro region.
Clarke is charged with theft of mail, mischief, and breaching court orders. It was also discovered that he owes about $60,000 in fines.
The incidents allegedly occurred on February 13 and February 20 at super-mailboxes in the St. John’s area and at Greycliffe Condominiums.
Clarke remains free on conditions and is due back in court on June 30 to enter a plea.
