Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province today.
The first case is a man in the Central Health region. It is related to travel and is not part of the cluster in the area.
The next two cases are men in the Eastern Health region and are both related to travel.
The remaining 6 cases are in the Western Health region. Four of the cases, two males and two females, are under the age of 20. As well, there’s one case in a woman between 20 and 39 years old, and one in a man in his 60s.
All of those cases are close contacts of a previous case.
As far as presumptive positives go, there’s one related to the Central Health cluster, and five in Western Health related to the case reported yesterday.
It should be noted that today’s numbers include cases identified in the Western Health region late yesterday.
Four people are in hospital.
There have been five new recoveries, two in central and three in Western. There are 100 active cases in the province.
Employees Test Positive
Two associates at the Walmart in Gander have tested positive for COVID-19.
The store confirmed that the associates both last worked on May 25 and any other associates who have been in close contact have been directed to self-isolate.
The employees will be paid while they isolate and contact tracing is underway. The store remains open.
