Over $2.3-million was raised for the Janeway Children’s Hospital this weekend.
The annual Janeway Telethon came in just shy of its $2.5-million goal.
Among those who came out to support the cause were the Lion’s Clubs of Eastern Newfoundland. The district attended the telethon to drop off a significant $10,500 donation to aid the Janeway Foundation. District governor Michael Foote and Childhood Cancer Chair Danny Ridgeley presented the cheque live on air.
Another sizeable donation was made by Walmart Canada, which helped raise over $400,000 for the cause.
The money will go towards advancing newborn care, as well as updating equipment used for neurosurgery.
VOCM’s Greg Smith was among the hosts of the annual telethon.
