Starting today, the City of Corner Brook will permanently display the Mi’kmaq Grand Council Flag in the atrium of City Hall.
It comes as part of the city’s efforts to recognize its indigenous heritage and in the effort of reconciliation.
The City says having the flag prominently displayed will be a reminder of its bond with the Qalipu First Nation.
The flag was hand-made by artist Jenny Brake and features a sealskin star and moon.
The flag was unveiled in a special ceremony at 10 a.m.
Honoured to now display the Mi’kmaq Grand Council flag in our City Hall atrium.
Thank you to all those who joined us this morning. For anyone who missed it, the live stream is available for playback at https://t.co/3JDs4IuTyh pic.twitter.com/SNvZmfz1kl
