Parents of students at St. Paul’s Intermediate in Gander and teachers are worried about Public Health measures in place after some students and staff were asked to isolate following a possible COVID exposure.
Most parents are keeping their children home, while reports indicate teachers are also staying home.
The English School District says Public Health has advised them that there is no reason to suspend in-class instruction, and the school is open.
The NLESD says staff members who have been cleared by Public Health to return to work are expected to report to the school.
The board says district programs staff are on hand to provide educational programming to the remaining students. The board says there are instances where cohorts are allowed to be in the same physical space, when the appropriate public health safety protocols, like maintaining a two-metre physical distance between people, are in place.
