An end-of-life facility in Central Newfoundland categorized as the first of its kind in the province has moved into the next phase.
The Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor kicked off its “Every Moment Matters” campaign to raise the money required to complete the 10-bed facility.
Board chair Mark Griffin says the architects have designed an inclusive space that is sensitive to the needs of people whose lives are ending and to the needs of their families.
The facility, which is located in the former Presentation Centre, will contain 10 private resident suites.
The board has secured about 65 per cent of the $7.6-million required.
Griffin says each suite will resemble a hotel room. The hospice will also have all the appropriate facilities as well as a play area for young children, nursing desks, and more.
