A man who was well known in the province’s legal profession and who also served as an MHA in the House of Assembly has passed away.
The Honourable Justice Fintan Aylward died early Tuesday morning in St. John’s.
Justice Aylward had a long and distinguished law practice in the capital city, was a judge in the province’s Supreme Court, and was the Member for Placentia East in the early 1970s. He founded the Legal Aid Society of Newfoundland, sat on the Ocean Ranger Royal Commission, and was the Chair of the board for the Marine Institute.
Visitation is planned for this Sunday, July 4, at Caul’s funeral home on LeMarchant Road. The funeral is scheduled for St. Pius 10th. 9:30 next Tuesday morning.(July 6th.). For those unable to attend the service will be live-streamed.
