The beach in Salmon Cove is once again open.
The town is announcing that they’ve received confirmation that all bodies of water, with the exception of Forest Pond, are safe to swim in.
Solutions are also being found to address the cause of the algal bloom at Forest Pond. The algae have proliferated, turning the water in the pond a milky green, and killing fish in the pond and river downstream.
Eric Penney, a concerned resident of Salmon Cove, says provincial government officials have done testing from the sewage treatment plant in Victoria, and have started a conversation into bringing in an engineering firm to determine what can be done to rectify the problem.
