Newfoundland and Labrador has reached record-setting gas prices.
Yesterday gas went up 5 and a half cents a litre across Newfoundland, western Labrador and Churchill Falls due in part to the province’s carbon tax which kicked in July 1st.
For the rest of Labrador, the cost went up just over 2 and a half (2.6) cents. That brings the average price of gasoline today to $1.52 a litre, the highest price seen since 2008 when gas hit $1.68 in parts of Labrador.
The price of diesel is up close to 4 and a half (4.4) cents across Newfoundland, western Labrador and Churchill Falls.
For the rest of Labrador, diesel is up by 3 cents (3.1) per litre.
Furnace and stove oil increased by just over a cent (1.09) and propane is up just over 2 cents (2.3) a litre.
