Over $820,000 in continued operational funding is going to ten violence prevention organizations in the province.
The Minister responsible for Women and Gender Equality, Pam Parsons, made the announcement at Marystown’s Voice Against Violence offices, which will receive $80,000 to provide information and referral services, public education, and community leadership and training.
Parsons says they’ve seen a rise in domestic abuse incidents since the start of the pandemic, making the funding a crucial investment.
She says the rise in domestic violence across the country is why it is so important to work with community organizations to address the need for support services.
