A woman from Random Island is seeking answers as her husband has been left in limbo waiting for lung surgery for three years.
Beverley Lambert and her husband have faced a long road since he was diagnosed with lung fibrosis in 2013.
Initially, she says his condition could be treated with medication but in 2018 they were told that he would need a double lung transplant.
They began the process but faced a delay when they were told the man would need to lose weight before the procedure. Then the pandemic hit, then earlier this year they were informed that their specialist was leaving the province and they were being referred to a new one.
After a few months of waiting, Lambert contacted the clinic in Toronto that would be handling the procedure, only to find out that they hadn’t received any information on her husband since 2019.
It has been three years since Lambert’s husband was told he needed the procedure, and she says the situation is dire. Without the procedure, she says her husband will die.
Lambert says she has been in contact with the Office of the Premier and health minister and has been told they’re working on the situation.
