Chief of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, Joe Boland is responding to allegations of sexual assault against certain RNC officers.
In a news conference held on Friday, he said the allegations have shaken both the community and the RNC.
Boland says two women came forward to him to share their stories. However, he says no formal complaints have been made so far.
Boland says he would like to see those that are responsible held accountable.
He says the 99 per cent of the officers who use their uniform properly are significant in making the community a better place, but it’s the one per cent who abuse it thatcan cause significant damage.
Boland compared the process of the investigations into the matter to home renovations. He says you can’t repair a wall until you remove the “rot”.
