A senior citizen who went to Motor Vehicle Registration yesterday morning, the first day walk-in service was available since pre-pandemic times, says lineups were long and the setup was in total disarray. The minister says they are still working on some things to make the system run smoother but overall she believes things went well.
Motor Vehicle is going to remain largely an appointment and online model as opposed to walk-in. Registration branches will open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Wednesday to seniors and those who require assistance.
John Connors told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly yesterday that everyone was just thrown in altogether—appointments and non-appointments. He says it was just like being thrown to the wolves.
Service NL Minister Sarah Stoodley was at the Mount Pearl branch for about an hour and a half yesterday morning. She says about 150 people went through the turnstiles around that time. The Wednesday morning block has been reserved solely for walk-ins.
She stresses that anyone who requires walk-in service at any time on a matter they consider to be urgent will be accommodated at any time.
