It’s been a summer full of encounters with marine life here in Newfoundland and Labrador. This weekend, a pair of kayakers got up close and personal with a beluga whale.
While paddling near Clarenville, the two were approached by a beluga which began swimming underneath their kayaks, pushing them along the water.
One of the kayakers, Irene Snow, shared pictures and video of the encounter on Facebook. She says the beluga hung around for about a half hour.
She says the experience was exciting, and she is thankful the playful beluga did not tip them over.
