The Conservation Corps Green Team in Cape Broyle is wrapping up a summer project that saw them cleaning up and beautifying the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in the town.
Green Team members Christi Aylward, Kelly Aylward, Nic Dalton and Dylan Francis have been helping to restore the cemetery, clean headstones using biological agents, and create safe and accessible paths through the heritage site.
Team Leader Christi Aylward it’s been a lot of hard, but rewarding work.
It included bringing in dirt in wheelbarrows to fill in holes, creating trails, painting fences and even building flower beds.
Kelly Aylward says they’re getting a lot of positive feedback on the work they’ve done.
She says they’ve been getting a lot of compliments, and they hosted a recent Heritage NL workshop, with participants from as far away as Corner Brook commending them on the work they’ve done.
