A soccer hall of famer has passed away.
Gord Dunphy, a player, coach and executive in his sport, is a life member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association and a member of the Hall of Fame.
He was instrumental in helping to build, promote and develop soccer in the province for more than half a century.

Dunphy started his soccer career with the St. Lawrence Laurentians, playing with the team before serving as coach and President of the club. He coached the team to three provincial Challenge Cup Championships in the 1990s.
Dunphy is a member of the St. Lawrence Soccer Hall of Fame, the Burin Peninsula Soccer Hall of Fame, and the NL Soccer Hall of Fame. He served four terms with the NLSA for a period of eight years and was named the 2014 NLSA Executive of the Year.
Gord Dunphy was a giant of local sports, whose commitment to building community through local sports is unmatched in Newfoundland and Labrador.
