ExxonMobil Canada is reporting that a crew member was injured following an incident on Avalon Sea support vessel last Friday.
The crew member was struck in the face by rigging while conducting lifeboat winch load testing on the Hebron platform.
A lifeboat was lowered to the deck of the Avalon Sea when a twist in the rigging was noticed, halting operations.
An attempt was made to removed the twist by unhooking the rigging, but movement of the vessel caused the rigging to move, striking the worker in the face.
The injured worker was medevaced to the Health Sciences for treatment and has since been released.
The C-NLOPB is monitoring ExxonMobil’s investigation into the incident.
