Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is making a campaign stop in St. John’s today.
Trudeau is first visiting Halifax before coming to St. John’s to meet with locals and supporters at The Wharf in Quidi Vidi.
This comes just weeks after Trudeau came to the province to announce the news rate mitigation deal and $10-a-day child care.
Trudeau is expected to arrive in Quidi Vidi at 6:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Abacus Data Managing Director and regular VOCM contributor, Tim Powers says the pit stop in St. John’s is a sign of just how tight the election race is becoming.
Powers says Trudeau wants to get more seats back in Atlantic Canada, especially in St. John’s East, where incumbent Jack Harris is not running for re-election.
He says Trudeau and the Liberals are going to places where incumbents are not running again, and trying to get those seats, a reflection of the closeness of the race.
