The Opposition is calling on the province to lay out how it plans to compete with Nova Scotia’s promised doctor recruitment strategy.
Nova Scotia’s incoming government has promised a $55-million recruitment campaign in response to the amount of people without a doctor—70,000 people. Newfoundland and Labrador has 90,000 people without a doctor.
Opposition Leader David Brazil says that the Nova Scotia government have recognized in six days what Health Minister John Haggie has ignored for six years.
Brazil is asking Minister Haggie and Premier Andrew Furey to acknowledge the “health crisis” facing Newfoundland and Labrador, and reveal their plans to recruit doctors.
