The Opposition MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor says he stands behind paramedics in central Newfoundland who are concerned about staffing levels.
Chris Tibbs, a former paramedic, attended a recent NAPE rally in Gander that drew attention to staffing levels they say are leading to burnout.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says while two ambulance units are available at both James Paton Memorial in Gander and the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor, only one is staffed.
According to Earle, that means paramedics must be available and on-call if the second ambulance is needed.
Tibbs accuses Health Minister and Gander MHA John Haggie of refusing to acknowledge what Tibbs calls the crisis unfolding in the healthcare system.
