The provincial government has officially opened applications for the Electric Vehicle Rebate Program.
$500,000 was set aside in the spring budget for the program. It will give a $2,500 rebate to people who purchase a new or used electric vehicle.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change Bernard Davis says they’re hoping for good response to the program.
They’re hoping for an uptake of about 180 vehicles, which they believe will just about double the number of electric vehicles currently in the province.
Applications are now open through the NL Hydro website.
