Memorial University has released its long-awaited mandatory vaccine policy for students arriving for the fall semester.
MUN says as part of its commitment and shared responsibility to keep people and their extended families safe during the upcoming school year, they require that students, faculty and staff coming to campus get vaccinated and wear masks while indoors on campus.
A vaccine declaration form is now available online through mun.ca.
Students and faculty are being asked to complete the form no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, September 7. A prize draw is available for those who submit their forms by Monday, September 6.
Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador can access their vaccination record online.

Information about Memorial University’s vaccination policy and exemptions will be released today.
Greg McDougall, Memorial University’s Chief Risk Officer, said during a student town hall yesterday, that exemptions will be granted for “human rights reasons,” such as medical or religious accommodations.
McDougall says they will ensure every student is treated fairly throughout the process and gave insight on what qualifies for a medical exemption.
He highlights individuals with allergies to vaccines as those that would qualify.
Associate Vice-President, Teaching and Learning, and Director Gavan Watson says students who are only enrolled in online classes that will not be on campus for any reason are not required to be vaccinated, but will still need to fill out the vaccination status form that is being released today.
He says this is because a student that is strictly online but lives near MUN’s St. John’s or Grenfell campus may be asked to attend a final exam in person.
