A man has been taken into custody without incident after a lengthy standoff with police in St. John’s.
Police responded to a home on Campbell Avenue, with guns drawn, in relation to what they’re calling a “potential weapons offense.”
RNC and the man were engaged for around eight hours before the man was taken without further incident.
According to the RNC, they had received information that there were other residents of the multi-unit home inside the building.
Officers remained at the scene to investigate further.

Police were on the scene of a Campbell Avenue home, with guns drawn, in relation to what they’ve called a “potential weapons offence” on Saturday evening.
According to the RNC, an occupant of the home was potentially armed with a weapon. They said they received that information from other residents of the multi-unit home inside the building.
Officers were working to communicate with the man inside and asked people to avoid the area.
