Alberta has said “thanks, but no thanks.”
Newfoundland and Labrador answered the call after our western friends reached out to the rest of the country during a surge in COVID cases and hospitalizations. Other provinces also offered help.
Premier Andrew Furey has been in touch with Premier Jason Kenney and was in the process of assembling a couple of teams of health care workers but, unlike Ontario, Alberta is able to cope on its own.
He says Premier Kenney originally accepted the offer from Newfoundland and Labrador but has since asked the Premier to stand down.
Furey says we are there to help should Alberta change its mind.
