Memorial University’s new Indigenous Student Resource Centre is being described as a home away from home for those studying on the St. John’s campus.
Known as Juniper House, the former private residence has been renovated inside and out with full input from Indigenous students. It includes a social room, computer lab, elders’ space, multimedia room and kitchen.
MUN’s new vice-president Indigenous, Catharyn Andersen, says it’s a space to build community and connections during students’ post-secondary journey.
She says it’s all about creating space and place on campus for Indigenous students to see themselves reflected in the university, inside and outside the classroom.
Juniper House is located at 208 Elizabeth Avenue, backing onto the new student residence and music school.
