Ottawa-based Dymond Group has entered into a joint project with Newfoundland based AltoMaxx on the redevelopment of Stephenville Dymond International Airport.
The Dymond Group recently purchased the old airport with plans to develop the site.
AltoMaxx will conduct drone-based surveys, mapping and modelling of the airport property during the planning stages of the project.
Director of Global Initiatives with AltoMaxx Technologies, Rodney Codner calls it an exciting opportunity.
“It’s really important, where this is a former US airforce base, to understand the existing infrastructure on the site,” says Codner. That will be done using various drone-based sensors to obtain critical data. They will use ground-penetrating radar to locate and model existing underground infrastructure, photogrammetry, and lidar to build three-dimensional mapping and surveys.
