A 53-year-old woman from this province was killed as the result of a motorcycle crash not far from North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
RCMP in Cape Breton were called to the scene in the community of Hillside Boularderie around 9:20 a.m. Monday morning.
Police say it appears a motorcycle driven by a man and with a female passenger on the back, lost control and left the road.
The driver, a 58-year-old man from Newfoundland, was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. The passenger, a 53-year-old woman from this province, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed for about 8 hours while police attended to the scene.
