Following a heart-wrenching medical diagnosis earlier this year, a local man found solace in physical exercise, which is something he’s looking to promote in the upcoming Cape to Cabot Race.
In April of this year, 35-year-old Mike Dawe received the news that he has cancer.
Dawe takes good care of himself, is physically fit, and has no family history of the disease.
Looking to reclaim some control of his life, Dawe turned to exercise, which he found to be a helpful outlet to channel his emotions.
Now, Dawe is working towards his next challenge, the Cape to Cabot race this Sunday.
For the race, he has partnered with Young Adults Cancer Canada for an initiative called Get YACCtive, which will help raise funds and awareness for young adults with cancer.
He says the initiative has become far bigger than just a road race; he is running for those who can’t and believes Sunday will be a powerful and emotional day.
On Sunday, Dawe is challenging everyone to set a goal for themselves and get active.
