Cruise Newfoundland and Labrador presented the 2021 Cruise Vision Award during the organization’s annual general meeting earlier this week.
The award is presented to an individual, group, or business that has demonstrated a commitment to the provincial cruise industry, while also contributing to its growth.
This year’s award was presented posthumously to Anita Rich of Rigolet, Labrador. Anita passed away in a snowmobile accident in March of 2020.
Rich began working in the Division of Tourism with the Nunatsiavut Government in 2018. In her role as Tourism Development Officer, she worked on a number of tourism files, including cruise coordination and development.
She coordinated cruise ship visits and worked closely with the Nunatsiavut communities, helping them showcase authentic experiences and unique aspects of culture.
“We were saddened to lose Anita,” said Director of Nunatsiavut Tourism Jill Larkham. “But we will continue with her work and her vision.”
