NDP Leader Alison Coffin says she will stay on as party leader until a leadership review process is finished.
On Saturday at the NDP convention in St. John’s just over 56 per cent of delegates voted in favor of a leadership review. That process could lead to a leadership convention.
Coffin lost her seat in St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi during last winter’s provincial election. That’s something which is currently being challenged in court.
In a statement on Sunday, Coffin states that she will continue to act as leader until the review process is finished, noting that she has been humbled during her time as leader.
She says the best approach for all New Democrats must be put in place, and that the engagement seen over the weekend is a positive thing.
