AG Denise Hanrahan supports proposed amendments to the province’s Auditor General’s Act.
The proposed changes will include enhancing the scope of the Auditor General by making the office the default auditor for all Crown agencies.
The amendments will also allow the office to audit the expenditure of government funds including grants provided to individuals, corporations and organizations, allowing AG access to cabinet records, and allowing the AG to undertaking performance audits in addition to financial audits.
Hanrahan says the proposed changes modernize the Act and help to expand access to information and authority to audit.
